The Rocky Horror Picture Show Review
Dysfunctional as the relationships between all of the people living in the castle may be, they have formed a sort of bond which makes them kind of an extended family. The Rocky Horror cult following is still very much alive and well, with lots of midnight showings that can be found in cities across the country. Fans of this film have a lot of spirit and keep it alive through midnight showings, even going as far as to create an official website to preserve its presence in pop culture. There are a lot of themes present throughout the movie, including heartbreak, tragedy, love, envy, and betrayal, making it almost Shakespearean. Because of its historical significance in cinema as well as the catchy tunes and great performances by all of its actors, The Rocky Horror Picture Show earns a 9/10 rating.

28 Days Later Review
The performances by all of the actors in the film are excellent, and there is a certain realistic quality to it which makes it a lot easier to empathize with the characters. With very minimal CGI as well as an excellent director with a great track record for making classic films, 28 Days Later was destined for greatness. The film manages to balance the action scenes with those which feature plenty of dialogue and character development rather well. There are few other films like this one that manage to get the audience so invested in what is happening to the people in it, which is perhaps its greatest strength.

Aliens Review
It is no surprise that Aliens was such a commercial success with director James Cameron at the helm. The superstar director delivered in fine fashion with this film, creating a truly classic sci-fi horror/thriller movie that many believe has surpassed its original. Because of the superb directing, excellent special effects, and an overall intense feeling throughout, this film deserves a high rating indeed. While the Alien series might have gone on to let down fans in an effort to milk the series for more money, this one is truly a sci-fi masterpiece. All in all, Aliens easily deserves an 8.5/10 because of its innovative nature and entertaining storyline.

The Shining Review
There is no doubt that The Shining is an important movie in horror history and indeed cinema in general, but it is important not to put it on too high of a pedestal. The film does do a good job of building up the tension between the characters and setting the right mood in the huge and spooky old hotel, allowing us to really feel what they are feeling. Kubrick is known for his perfectionist attitude when it comes to making films, and while this particular one may have some problems here and there, it is still an immense achievement for the filmmaker as well as the cast.

Toy Story Review
If you have not watched the Toy Story yet, then you definitely should. This is a movie that will live one through the ages and will be entertaining families for a very long time. The directing, writing, and acting come together in terrific fashion. And with amazing 3D animation sprinkled on top, this makes Toy Story one of the best animated feature films ever produced. The adventure we are taken on is absolutely superb and from the perspective of toys, things we have all enjoyed as long as we can remember. With all of these qualities baked into one movie, it’s no wonder it’s still so popular nearly two decades after it’s original creation.

Die Hard Review
Alan Rickman and Bruce Willis are highly entertaining to watch on screen during the scenes when they are interacting with each other. If nothing else, the movie might be worth watching just to see Rickman do a typical American accent. Willis has done quite a few action movies in his time, but Die Hard remains as one of his best performances by far. Action movie junkies will definitely be satisfied with all of the adrenaline-pumping scenes which feature Willis doing everything from crashing through a window of a high-rise building to escape a giant explosion to dropping a fair bit of C4 down a vent which devastates half the skyscraper. All in all, this film has earned its place in the action genre and continues to be a classic flick.

The Night Listener Review
While The Night Listener may have its fair share of flaws, it always comes across as honest and unflinching in the way it tells its story. Those who are hoping for a happy feel-good movie will likely be disappointed, but it has much more substance than most would expect going in. Although Robin Williams tends to gravitate towards comedic “safe” roles for the most part, he can be commended for breaking this pattern by choosing to be a part of this film. All in all, there are a lot of things about this movie that make it appealing and enjoyable to watch, but most of all it is the story itself that is the true hook that reels the viewer in and keeps them in its pocket.

The Lucky One Review
One of the best things about the performance that Efron delivers in this movie is that he is not overly confident like many leading men in Hollywood, but rather more reserved. Blythe Danner also adds quite a bit to the movie, bringing in a warm and cheerful element which it desperately needs. There is just about every basic element of a good story in this movie, including romance, tragedy, and conflict. While the characters themselves may not all be very sympathetic, the performances of the actors are good enough to where we can keep watching and stay engaged. All in all, The Lucky One has its saving graces and ranks a 7 out of a possible 10.

Phone Booth Review
Morality is a huge undertone in this film, and there is definitely a lesson being conveyed through the characters. We discover that the sniper who has Stu in his sights (quite literally) has targeted other corrupt or generally reprehensible individuals before, with devastating results. There are very few movies that are able to use one set the entire time and still manage to entertain and engage the audience, and Phone Booth is definitely one of them. While it may have some minor flaws, this film is definitely one that is worth watching at least once, if for no other reason than to see Colin Farrell tormented by a man’s voice.
